Link to the Live World

Bred in the dusty midst of interwoven metallic limbs, dating back to the arts and crafts movement, organic organisms have taken root, building a nesting area out of the banal environment.  Figural and profile appendages extend from the main anatomy creating inhabitable landscapes.  Artificial movements replace the natural as buds open mechanically to swallow the sunlight.  She has curly hair, yet it does not blow in the fierce presence of the wind.  She lights her inner belly by the reflective glow dancing from cocoons, as they wait for their tiny inhabitants to hatch.  She wants you to explore and wants to show you the way. Follow her footsteps as fireflies lead you on a path to experience the fluttering within her. Explore the garden to find the flowers playing peek-a-boo and the hummingbirds dancing amongst the flora,  Traverse the under-paths to experience some of her complexities that lay beneath as they reach out to embrace the metallic limbs of her children, she is known by many names but to us, she is Mother Nouveau.

Mother Nouveau explores the connections between the artificial and natural. She is full of life yet completely devoid of it. The mechanical organisms living within her begin to take hold of the structures resting upon her and encompasses all, both from the exterior and interior of the project, creating a layer of articulation against these underlying masses. The structures themselves flow with the landscape in which they rest yet each create their own figure through a plan view of the site allowing for a connection between the site and structure but also a clear distinction between the two. These articulated masses rest upon grounds that both consist of figural qualities through the art nouveau and a profile creating a skeletal base for the masses.
